Antitrust+? I don’t think so.

MG thinks Google is headed for an antitrust inquiry. That might be the case, but the current state of Google isn’t a monopoly.

The fact is, there are so many choices for search (Bing, DuckDuckGo, etc.) that if these results are materially bad for consumers, then people will go elsewhere.

Let’s keep in mind, antitrust law is for the benefit of consumers, not for the benefit of other companies.

If someone feels like Google is competing unfairly because they’re huge and bundle products, but there’s no net harm to consumers, then (my understanding) antitrust law isn’t going to save the competitors. And even if it does (Netscape) by the time there’s any actual action, the company will be long gone.

Antitrust law isn’t the way to win an argument, better products are. If someone is unfairly competing against you, and they’re good at it (Microsoft), it’s already over.
